Art of Dance
What is ‘DANCE’? Why till last decade it was not a welcoming art in school curriculum, but now the scenario is very different.
The man behind the idea of introducing this beautiful expressive art in school curriculum is Akram Khan, a highly acclaimed choreographer in UK. Akram believes dance is as important as studying Maths or Medicine. The 41-year-old, who played a major role in the choreography for the opening ceremony of the London Olympic Games.
Akram had this to say on the matter “The performer and choreographer believes that dance can break through many barriers. He believes through dance, a political, religious and social connection can be created. When you speak to dancers, they will be the first to tell you that dance is much more than just having a good time. They see it as an art form that allows them to tell a story without a word being said.
The ideaology of RPSGOS is also similar to Mr. Akram and that is why we have nearly more than 35 GURUS of ‘Nratya’ in all its schools transforming their various art forms to students of all levels.
The philosophy of RPSGOS in regard to this fine way of communication is “dance education helps students develop physical fitness, appreciation of the body, concern for sound health practices, and effective stress management approaches.”
